Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has told the club’s official website that Nicolas Pepe can do more.

Arteta was pleased by the performance of Pepe during Arsenal’s 4-1 win against Molde at the Emirates Stadium in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

However, the Arsenal boss added that he wants the 25-year-old winger to do more and to be more consistent.

Arteta told Arsenal’s official website when asked what Pepe needs to do to start in the Premier League: “Consistency. Throughout the game, throughout 90 minutes, every ball, in every action and every time he’s on the ball in the final third he [needs to] make a difference. And do it more and more and more.

“The final product has to be better, not just from him but if you want to become a top top team and score many more goals then it’s something we have to put higher demands on at the moment. Today he scored a really good goal and got an assist and he can do more. I think he’s on the right path.”

Encouraging performance from Nicolas Pepe

Pepe played well for Arsenal against Molde, as the winger scored one of the goals, worked hard and looked very creative.

According to WhoScored, the 25-year-old took four shots of which two were on target and one ended in goal, played four key passes, had a pass accuracy of 83.7%, won one header, took 60 touches, attempted two dribbles, and put in three crosses.

Getting better

Pepe is getting better and seems to know what is expected of him in Arteta’s system at Arsenal.

The consistency that Arteta is looking for in the winger will come if he gets an extended run in the team.

The 25-year-old is not guaranteed a place in the starting lineup, and when he gets his chances, he should make the most of them.
