Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has told Football.London that the club are attempting to put together a plan for their summer transfer business.

The Gunners posted a huge loss of £47million on Friday, leaving some fans to worry about the club’s summer transfer activity.

Fans had similar fears last summer due to the global pandemic, but Arsenal did still manage to splash the cash on Atletico Madrid star Thomas Partey.

It’s unclear just how much Arteta will be able to spend this summer, but he is predicting major, ‘unprecedented’ changes once again this summer as Arsenal’s rebuild continues.

Arteta claims he doesn’t know how much he can spend because Arsenal still have players coming back from loan deals and some will have their contracts expiring.

Arteta does though add that Arsenal are already trying to put together their plan to attack the summer transfer window, attempting to price up just what Arsenal need.

“We don’t know yet because we have so many things to do. We have people on loan, people finishing contracts,” said Arteta. “There was a lot going on in the last two transfer windows that had to be done the amount of things we had to do which was probably unprecedented and it will be again in the summer. So we are trying to put a plan together to see with the resources that we have to see how much we want to improve, how we’re going to do it and at what cost.”

“That has so many factors attached to it. It’s not just about one thing or about just an amount, it’s about a project that time-wise, how to build it is going to face some effort from everybody. We know that and the challenging moments that we are facing at the moment are making it even harder,” he added.

A new playmaker seems likely, and two names that could be in the mix are Emiliano Buendia (Eurosport) and Manor Solomon (Guardian), with both heavily linked of late.

Signing a new left back must be priority too, but it seems that the Gunners may need to make a couple of bargain basement signings just to cope with their financial losses.
