Mikel Arteta has admitted that he will be sad when Jurgen Klopp leaves Liverpool at the end of this season.

Arsenal take on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool this weekend with the Gunners hoping to propel themselves up the table and close the gap on the Merseyside club.

Last season, the game at Anfield proved to be pivotal with the North London club drawing 2-2 with Liverpool after being two goals to the good and the result seemed to kickstart the club’s struggles in the league which eventually led to Manchester City winning the league title.

A win for Arsenal against Klopp’s men would cut the gap to just two points and would really kick the title race into high gear.

Arteta on Klopp

Ahead of the mouthwatering clash at the Emirates Stadium which promises to have a big say on where the Premier League title will be heading at the end of the season, the Spaniard has been speaking in glowing terms about the German.

Since joining Liverpool in autumn of 2015, the German manager has guided the Reds to their first league title in 30 years and also claimed the club’s sixth Champions League crown.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of the game, Mikel Arteta said when asked about if he’ll miss Klopp: “Absolutely. I think it’s going to be a big loss. He’s been an inspiration. He’s got a really attractive way of building teams and transforming a club. He will be missed, but for now, he’s here.”

Importance of this fixture

The importance of this game at the Emirates Stadium cannot be understated. The two sides could not be separated when they last met with Mohamed Salah cancelling out Gabriel Magalhaes’ opener for the Gunners.

Last season, Arsenal got the victory at the Emirates against Liverpool but, as mentioned, the two sides could not be separated which had a seismic impact on the title race.

This game promises to be another classic in the league. Arteta will be hoping to get one over Klopp but the Merseyside club got the better of the Gunners as Arsenal’s profligacy cost them in the FA Cup clash last month.
