Mikel Arteta has told Thursday’s press conference – as per Football London – that it is “incredible” how much work Arsenal have done in the transfer window, and told fans that there is still plenty ongoing, both in and out.
The Gunners have spent well over £100million – bringing in duo Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City. Fabio Vieira comes in from Porto, while Matt Turner and Marquinihos will add depth to his squad.
Plenty have left the club, too. Matteo Guendouzi and Konstantinos Mavropanos have made loan moves permanent to Marseille and Stuttgart. Bernd Leno has gone to Fulham, while Nuno Tavares and Aaron Trusty have gone on loan.
Alexandre Lacazette has left on a free transfer to join Lyon. Dan Ballard has also brought in a substantial fee to go to Sunderland, while numerous other Under-23 players have also gone – including Omari Hutchinson to Chelsea.

Asked about the work in the transfer window and the possibility of more incomings. Arteta responded, he said that it has been “incredible” the work done in the summer so far. He also hinted at more incomings, and outgoings.
“We are really active as you can see with ins and outs. Everything is still open it’s a long window. It’s incredible how much business the club has already done. It’s not gonna stop,” Arteta said.

It has certainly been another expensive window for the Gunners – after spending around £160million last term. It is not as if they have sold any players for big wages, either. Plenty of expenditure, then, from Arsenal’s owners.
So it has been substantial from Edu and the Kroenke’s. But what next? Plenty of fringe players need to be sold – Lucas Torreira, Hector Bellerin, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and more. Do Arsenal need anything? Perhaps, a holding midfielder.
