Yesterday, Antonio Conte hit back at Mikel Arteta after the Arsenal boss complained to the Premier League about fixture scheduling.

The Spaniard was unhappy with the fact his side have to play at 12:30pm today, when they faced Liverpool as recently as Wednesday evening.

However, Conte was far from sympathetic, telling Arteta that he doesn’t know the meaning of “fair” after the Gunners asked for the north London derby to be postponed, despite having just one positive COVID-19 test.

Now, after some comments made by Conte in 2017 resurfaced, the £250,000-a-week Spurs man has come across as a hypocrite.

What’s the story?

Well, you may know that some Arsenal fans on Twitter are excellent detectives.

After Conte made his remark, a number of supporters found comments from the 52-year-old in November 2017, when his Chelsea side had to play on Wednesday evening and then face Liverpool on the Saturday.

If Conte was unhappy with that at the time, then surely he should be in support of Arteta’s argument?

To make matters even more controversial, Chelsea were only made to play the late kick-off on Saturday back in 2017, whereas Arsenal must deal with the early kick-off, giving them even less time to prepare.

Extra edge to Tottenham vs Arsenal

The north London derby is usually heated enough, although this war of words between the pair will add an extra edge to the clash.

It is also set to be an exciting spectacle, as it could determine who qualifies for the Champions League.

As things stands, the Gunners sit fourth with 51 points to their name, whereas Spurs are seventh with 48 points.

Therefore, it could be a north London derby for the ages when these two finally lock horns once again.
