Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has heaped praise on striker Gabriel Jesus after the win over Luton Town on Tuesday night.

The Gunners produced a stunning late show to secure a 4-3 win over Luton Town.

Declan Rice bagged the late winner for Arsenal, heading home Martin Odegaard’s cross to spark wild scenes in the away end at Kenilworth Road.

Arsenal’s push for the Premier League title continues and the performance of Gabriel Jesus will fill Mikel Arteta with confidence.

Mikel Arteta says Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus was ‘really lively’ against Luton Town

There has been criticism of Jesus this season, mostly because of his lack of top-end killer instinct in the final third.

The Brazilian does so many things very well, but few would describe him as a deadly finisher.

Jesus was in fine form against Luton though, starting with a quick throw-in to set up Gabriel Martinelli’s opener.

Jesus then headed home to put Arsenal 2-1 up and assisted Kai Havertz as Arsenal made it 3-3.

Arsenal boss Arteta has now told the club’s official website that he felt Jesus was ‘really lively’ and caused Luton ‘a lot of problems’.

Arteta added that Jesus was a ‘constant threat’ and believes that Arsenal are now ‘getting the best’ out of the former Manchester City man.

“He looked really lively today, really active and caused them a lot of problems,” said Arteta. “He was really mobile, a constant threat and scored a good goal. He was involved in many positive actions for the team as well, so I think we’re getting the best out of him and he’s in a good place,” he added.

Jesus looking to shine ahead of January transfer window

Jesus had only scored one league goal before Tuesday’s trip to Luton and some were having doubts about him as Arsenal’s top striker.

The Gunners are going for the Premier League title and need to be ruthless, so there have been rumours surrounding a big striker arrival in January.

Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen are just two names suggest of late, surely with the idea of taking over from Jesus in Arsenal’s attack.

The January window is just a few weeks away now and Jesus will be looking to prove that Arsenal don’t need to spend on a new forward.

Tuesday’s display was encouraging and Arteta will be looking for him to really kick on ahead of the transfer window.
