Mikel Arteta has warned that the unthinkable scenario of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang being dropped by Arsenal could happen because ‘no-one is undroppable’ as he told Football London.
Heading into the new season, not many Arsenal fans, if any, would have expected such a situation where questions are being asked about whether Aubameyang should be starting.
Since the first ball was kicked during this delayed campaign, Arsenal’s main man has netted only once from open play in the Premier League – and that came against newly-promoted Fulham.
Arteta shared his thoughts on Aubameyang’s mood around the training ground ahead of their Europa League tie tonight and was asked whether his £56 million hitman [BBC Sport] is undroppable.
“No one is undroppable,” said Arteta. “At the end of the day, we have to find the right players to win football matches. But we cannot forget what Auba has done for this club and what he has done in recent months, not years ago.
“As well, I see how he’s training and how he’s behaving, how much he wants to turn this situation around.
“When I see that type of hunger, it’s about supporting the player as well as the status he has in the team because of the performances he has provided for this football club.”

Arsenal need something to cling onto which can help really kick start their season because it has been a dire season for the club.
Aubameyang scoring, not just in the Europa League, but in the Premier League would help them along the way because he is their main guy, their captain and such a popular figure amongst fans.
That win against Manchester United clearly didn’t work, so whilst they will be expected to win against Dundalk in a few hours time. The eyes will be all on the weekend and that Sunday clash against Burnley.
