Mikel Arteta delivers Inter Miami verdict after Lionel Messi signing

Mikel Arteta has lauded Inter Miami and MLS’ decision to bring Lionel Messi to the division, with the Argentine this week being unveiled as a new signing.

Speaking to the press via Stadium Astro for MLS All-Star week, the Arsenal manager was full of praise for how the league and Inter Miami went about signing the former FC Barcelona superstar, with Arteta noting that the transfer will put the league in the spotlight.

Messi’s move to Inter Miami is easily the biggest transfer in MLS history, with the forward expected to make his debut this week in the Leagues Cup against Mexican side Cruz Azul. And plenty is riding on the forward being a massive success in America.

Yet one figure who is already confident that Messi will succeed in MLS is Arteta, with the Arsenal manager saying on the new Inter Miami superstar: “We are living history, the way the league has developed in the last 20 years has been phenomenal.

“The decision they made to take this league much further by bringing in a top talent and the best player ever on this planet, it’s going to put this league in the spotlight. I think it was a clever move and it’s something that’s not only really good for the league but everybody is connected to it.”

Arteta is a man who knows a thing or two about soccer having led the Arsenal rebirth over the last four years. And the 41-year-old’s opinion on Messi signing for Inter Miami putting a spotlight on MLS something that many fans can now expect from the outside world.

As we know, Messi is arguably one of the most famous people on the planet and a player who is considered the best of all time. And even at the age of 35, many will expect the forward to be an incredible asset for Inter Miami, who will be transformed by this one signing.
