Every transfer in the footballing world comes with some risk attached, but in Arsenal’s case, they are pursuing a deal which could quite drastically go either way.

According to Sky Sports, The Athletic and many other outlets, Arsenal are pushing hard to bring Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic to the Premier League this month.

Now, if Mikel Arteta pulls this deal off, it really could be an era-defining transfer for the Spaniard at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal need Dusan Vlahovic to thrive

According to the Daily Mail, Fiorentina have quoted Arsenal £58m for their prolific No.9, who has scored 18 goals in 22 games this season.

However, that isn’t all.

Arsenal will have to fork out a total package worth £150m if they’re to sign Vlahovic, with £15m in agent fees and a weekly wage of £300,000-a-week for the 21-year-old.

In our view, the finances needed to sign the wonderkid would make this deal one of the biggest decisions of Arteta’s time in charge so far.

Dusan Vlahovic deal could go either way

If the £150m signing works out, Arsenal would have one of the hottest properties on the planet in their ranks, as well as someone capable of firing them back into the Champions League.

Aged just 21, and surrounded by the likes of Emile Smith Rowe, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, Vlahovic could then fire Arsenal to even bigger heights as he and his young teammates grow together in north London.

He could be the focal point of a truly incredible side.

However, if the move backfires and Vlahovic fails, it would potentially set Arteta’s project back years.

Arsenal would then need to find another centre-forward, with Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette’s contracts ending in June, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang also looks to have burned his bridges.

However – as aforesaid – every transfer comes with a risk, and if Arsenal are to get back to the summit of English football, they need to be bold.
