Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta admits that his squad have not been ‘good enough’ at Everton in recent years. The Gunners have not won their past four visits to Goodison Park since 2017.
Everton have beaten Arsenal in three of their last four matches with the north London club on Merseyside. The Toffees have also won their past two games with a 2-1 scoreline. Now, Sean Dyche will hope to get one over Arteta after he took charge of the Blues this Monday.
Nacho Monreal, Mesut Ozil, Alexandre Lacazette, Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey sealed Arsenal’s last win at Everton in October 2017. All five of the players who produced the 5-2 result are no longer at Emirates Stadium. While Arteta has lost all of his two trips in charge.

Arsene Wenger was the last Arsenal manager to oversee a win at Everton. Unai Emery lost 1-0 on his only visit to Goodison in April 2019 to a Phil Jagielka goal. While the teams drew 0-0 with caretaker bosses Duncan Ferguson and Freddie Ljungberg at the respective helms.
A Rob Holding own goal and Yerry Mina then dealt Arteta a 2-1 defeat in December 2020 as the ex-Everton midfielder took his Arsenal to Goodison. While Richarlison and Demarai Gray handed Rafa Benitez a 2-1 win in December 2021. The result was a shock for the Toffees.

Arteta admits his Arsenal squads have not been ‘good enough’ at Everton
Benitez’s Everton beat Arteta’s Arsenal in December 2021 to end their eight-game winless run in the Premier League. The Toffees would also fail to win any of their following four in the top-flight. Owner Farhad Moshiri then fired the Spaniard before appointing Frank Lampard.
Everton only visited Arsenal under Lampard and lost 5-1 in May 2022 on the last day of the season. Now, Dyche will hope to get his Toffees tenure off with a winning start at home to the Gunners. And Arteta admits that his Gunners have not been good enough at Goodison.
“I am hopeful that we are going to do it but we have to show that [on Saturday],” Arteta said, via the Evening Standard. “It is something that we have not done in the last few years.
“We have lost games in situations and actions that are not good enough and [on Saturday] we are going to have to play at a really high level to earn the right to win the game.”
