Wolverhampton Wanderers have conceded just three times in their last five matches.
Mike Williamson has told Wolverhampton Wanderers’ official site that the strength of the side’s defence is growing by the game.
Williamson arrived a Wolves from Newcastle United on loan last month, and he has helped tighten up Kenny Jackett’s side’s backline.
Wolves have conceded just three goals in their last five matches, and they kept a clean-sheet against Milton Keynes Dons in their most recent outing.
And Williamson said: “I think the understanding is growing at the back.
“It is about making sure we stay solid, don’t over-commit, because clean sheets are the foundations for three points.”
Despite Wolves’ improvement at the back, their results have not been particularly encouraging.
Jackett’s men were tipped as promotion contenders before the season started, but they are currently languishing in mid-table.
Wolves were only able to draw 0-0 with MK Dons in their latest outing, but Williamson feels with a bit more ruthlessness, they could have got the three points.
“We weren’t far from it and just need to find that extra bit,” he added.
“Going into the next game, if you were to look at the chances created and chances conceded you would take that all day.
“We need to build off the foundation – we did a lot of the basics very well.
“We just need to put the ball in the back of the net and get the three points.”
Wolves’ draw with MK Dons leaves them in 15th place in the Championship table, and they are now closer to the relegation zone than the play-offs.
Jackett’s side’s next match comes against Rotherham United on Saturday.
