Leeds United will face Newport County in the FA Cup this afternoon.

Kemar Roofe of Leeds is tackled by Julien De Sart of Derby during the Sky Bet Championship match between Leeds United and Derby County at Elland Road on January 13, 2017 in Leeds, England.

Newport County manager Mike Flynn said on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday evening (6:23pm, January 5, 2018) that he hopes that Kemar Roofe does not play for Leeds United this afternoon.

League Two outfit County will take on Championship club Leeds at Rodney Parade in the third round of the FA Cup this afternoon.

The Whites will head into the tie as favourites and will expect to win the game quite comfortably.

One of the players who could start for the West Yorkshire outfit is Kemar Roofe, who can operate as a striker or as a winger.

The 25-year-old has played well so far this season, as he has scored seven goals and provided one assist in 16 Championship starts for the Whites.

Newport manager Flynn has spoken highly of the former Oxford United star, and has said that he hopes that he does not play against his team today.

Roofe joined Leeds from Oxford in the summer of 2016 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £3 million when Garry Monk was in charge of the Whites.

Flynn said about Roofe on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday evening (6:23pm, January 5, 2018): “He is a talented player.

“I played against him when he was at Oxford as well. He was a lot younger then, but you could see he was going to be a very, very good player, and he is one that we have got to watch, and if I am honest, I hope he is not playing.”
