Mikael Lustig wants to remain at Celtic for the rest of his career.

Lustig has been on the books of Celtic since 2012 and has a contract with the Scottish giants until June 2019, according to Transfermarkt.com.

“When you play professional football, you begin to understand how tough it is to get there,” Lustig told The Glasgow Evening Times. “I am very pleased with how far I have come.
“In the past, I have always said I want to come back to Sweden, but the more I’m abroad and the more I play for Celtic, the more I think of finishing my career here.
“We are so happy here. After six years here I love the club, my family thrives and it is it working well with schools for our daughters. It would take a lot for me to leave Celtic.”

Lustig is one of the best players in the current Celtic team and is an important figure in Brendan Rodgers’s side.
The 30-year-old right-back is also a hugely experienced player, and could go to the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia next summer with Sweden.
While Lustig may want to remain at Celtic for the rest of his career, it is hard to see the Glasgow giants keeping him when he is in his mid or late-30s.
The Swede is a very good right-back, but the emergence of Anthony Ralston should concern him regarding a place in the starting lineup in the coming years.
Moreover, would the defender be happy to be just a squad player in two or three years’ time?
