Celtic defender Mikael Lustig has told The Daily Record that Patrick Roberts was brilliant against St. Mirren at the weekend.

Roberts, who is currently on loan at Celtic from Manchester City, featured for the Bhoys against St. Mirren in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup on Sunday afternoon.

The 20-year-old winger did not start the tie at Celtic Park, but he came on as a substitute at half time.

The England Under-20 international played well for the home team and helped them stage a successful comeback.

St. Mirren took the lead through Harry Davis after just 13 minutes, but Lustig, Scott Sinclair, Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths scored in the second half to secure a 4-1 victory for the Hoops.

Celtic right-back Lustig has praised Roberts for his contribution to the win against St. Mirren.

“Paddy was brilliant,” Lustig told The Daily Record. “He was involved in three of our goals. It was him who did good things. In the second half the game opened up.”

Over the course of the 90 minutes at Celtic Park on Saturday afternoon, hosts Celtic had 62% of the possession, took 13 shots of which five were on target, and earned 12 corners, according to BBC Sport.
