West Ham United have decided to take advantage of Leeds United and Arsenal cooling their interest in Real Madrid youngster Miguel Gutierrez, according to The Daily Star.

What’s the story?

The Daily Star are reporting that West Ham are interested in signing Gutierrez from Madrid in the summer transfer window.

The Spanish giants are looking to send the 19-year-old left-back out on loan.

West Ham are interested in the youngster and have held talks over a loan deal.

The Spanish player himself is interested in a move to the Premier League.

West Ham have swooped in

Arsenal and Leeds wanted to sign the left-back, but both the Gunners and the Whites have cooled their interest.

This, according to the report, has allowed West Ham to make their move.

Both Arsenal and Leeds have been looking for left-backs, but they appear to have found their players.

The Athletic has reported that Leeds are on the verge of signing left-back Junior Firpo from Barcelona.

The Daily Mail has claimed that Arsenal are set to sign Portuguese left-back Nuno Tavares from Benfica.

Good move for West Ham?

Gutierrez is a talented and promising young left-back who has already played for the Madrid first team.

The teenager made three starts and three substitute appearances in La Liga for Los Blancos last season.

However, if West Ham are looking for a left-back to compete with Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku, then they should look for someone with more experience than Gutierrez.

Even if the Hammers want a left-back for cover, they should still look at someone who is not 19 and who has made more than six league appearances.

Gutierrez has potential, but if West Ham are to challenge for the Premier League top four next season, then they need someone more established.
