Newcastle United are keen on Atlanta United’s Miguel Almiron.

Newcastle United made it two wins in two games on Saturday afternoon as they beat Bournemouth 2-1 at St James’ Park – and seemingly did it all in front of a transfer target’s agent.
The Magpies built on their win over Watford with a second victory of the season, with Salomon Rondon bagging a first half brace for Rafael Benitez’s side before a Jefferson Lerma goal brought Bournemouth back into the game.
Newcastle held on though, and Benitez will now be looking up the table after a difficult start to the season, and will certainly be looking for potential January additions to bolster his squad.
One name mentioned with a move to Tyneside is Atlanta United playmaker Miguel Almiron, as The Sun on Sunday (28/10; page 59) reported that Newcastle are ready to rival the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United for his signature.
Almiron, 24, starred in South America with Cerro Porteno and Lanus before heading to Major League Soccer in 2016 with Atlanta United, where he has become a star.
The Paraguayan playmaker has hit 12 goals and 13 assists in 32 MLS games this year, and it’s a given that he will be moving on in January for something bigger and better – most probably the Premier League.

Now, agent Daniel Campos has told Paraguayan radio station Futbol a lo Grande that he was indeed at St James’ Park on Saturday to watch Newcastle’s game against Bournemouth, adding weight to those rumours of a move.
With other Premier League clubs keen and Almiron starring in America, Benitez could land a huge coup if he can pull off Almiron’s signing, and will hope that showing Campos Saturday’s win can help Newcastle secure a major January deal.
