Arsenal icon Perry Groves fears David Moyes now has just three games to avoid the sack at West Ham United. Just two of those are in the Premier League and all are away from home.
The Irons fell to a fifth consecutive top-flight defeat against Brentford on Friday night with a 2-0 loss. They now sit just a point above the relegation zone through 17 games and could start 2023 in the bottom three. Southampton and Wolves both feature on New Year’s Eve.

West Ham have endured a miserable season with only four wins and two draws so far this term. No Premier League team has lost more games than the Hammers (11), either. While just Wolves (10), Nottingham Forest (11) and Everton (12) have scored less often (13), too.

Brentford beat West Ham 2-0 at the London Stadium from two throw-ins, as well. Much to captain Declan Rice’s frustration, Ivan Toney (18’) broke the deadlock after prodding home a rebound. He then set Josh Dasilva free to beat Lukasz Fabianski with his ball over the top.
Now, Moyes’ position at the West Ham helm is possibly at risk at the turn of the year. The Hammers are next in Premier League action at Leeds United on January 4. They then meet Brentford again but in the FA Cup on the 7th before a top-flight trip to Wolves on the 14th.

Groves fears Moyes will be at risk of the sack after West Ham’s next three games
Groves told talkSPORT ahead of West Ham hosting and losing to Brentford on Friday that it could be the first match in Moyes’ farewell tour. The Arsenal icon suggested that anything but a win against the Bees may make the Hammers’ upcoming run of games boom or bust.
“The next three games, all away from home. Leeds away in the Premier League, Brentford in the FA Cup and Wolves away. If he loses against Brentford tonight, I think he’s got those three games,” Groves said.
“If you don’t pick up four points in the two games I mentioned against Leeds and Wolves, then I think he will be bang under pressure. The support that he’s got from [West Ham co-owners David] Sullivan and [David] Gold, I think that might start disappearing.”

West Ham lost at home to Brentford on Friday despite recording more than twice as many shots as the Bees. WhoScored registered the Irons as attempting 20 efforts to their guest’s nine. Yet the Hammers only directed five on target to Brentford’s six with nine going wide.
If Moyes wants to avoid the sack, he will need the West Ham players to step up. The Irons have a far better squad than their current Premier League position would suggest. So, the Hammers board would likely start to consider – if they are not already – making a change.
