Micah Richards has urged the Liverpool players to ‘enjoy’ their Premier League title win ‘as much as they can’ because they may not lift the trophy again, as he told Football Focus.

Liverpool were officially crowned champions of England last week when Manchester City dropped points away at Chelsea.

For many of the Liverpool players, baring James Milner, this is the first time they are going to put their names into the Premier League history books.

Richards, who won the Premier League title with Manchester City, thinks that the Liverpool players need to make most of this moment because it may never come around again.

“The second time [I won the Premier League title] I didn’t play enough games for a medal so I was sulking,” said Richards. “But looking back now I should have definitely cherished it more.

“Amazing times when you are with the squad and the team. For some of them players at Liverpool, they might not win the Premier League again. So, they have got to enjoy it as much as they can.”

It may have taken 30 years for Liverpool to earn their 19th top-flight title, but Jurgen Klopp will want to make sure number 20 comes along pretty quickly.

There is no doubt that Liverpool have the starting XI to go again, but it’s just a case of whether they need to add fresh faces to bulk up their squad.

If Liverpool’s key players can stay away from the treatment room next season then there’s no doubt why the Reds cannot go on to win back-to-back titles.
