Jose Mourinho revealed something quite worrying about Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale on Wednesday night.

Bale opened the scoring in helping Spurs to a 3-1 win over Stoke City as Mourinho’s side reached the semi-final of the League Cup.

But the Tottenham attacker failed to appear for the second half and the Portuguese coach claimed that the player himself asked to be substituted.

The 31-year-old winger was already injured when he arrived on loan from Real Madrid in September and it remains to be seen if he’ll be available for the trip to Wolves on Sunday.

Even without these injuries, Bale hasn’t looked the same player who left Tottenham for the Spanish giants in 2013.

And here’s how fans of the North London club are reacting to Mourinho’s revelation about his potential injury:

If he is set for anothe spell on the sidelines, it’s a big disappointment for Tottenham fans.

Then again, the Lilywhites are having a very good season and were top of the Premier League table only last week before losing to Liverpool, and Bale, despite a winning goal against Brighton, hasn’t played as big a role in that as someone like Harry Kane or Son Heung-min.

If he’s injured, Mourinho’s side will survive without him.
