Nuno Tavares kicked off his Arsenal career in style on an otherwise disappointing day for Mikel Arteta’s side.
The Gunners went into this afternoon’s friendly away to Rangers hoping for a victory after losing 2-1 to Hibernian earlier in the week.
But the visitors could only settle for a 2-2 draw, with Eddie Nketiah netting a late equaliser.
Arsenal were level at the break after new boy Nuno equalised for Arteta’s troops, cancelling out Leon Balogun’s opener.
He was announced as an Arsenal player last weekend in what was an £8 million deal.
And here’s how some fans of the North London club reacted to the new left-back’s performance today:
Big challenge
Tavares was taken off at the half-time break for Kieran Tierney and the Portuguese new boy will have to get used to that, stepping aside for the former Celtic defender.
Tierney is one of Europe’s best left-backs and the truth is that when fit, he’s going to start ahead of Tavares virtually every single week under the Arsenal boss. It’s such a big challenge for the new man.
That’s if Arteta intends to play him as a left-back.
With Hector Bellerin seemingly heading out of the club, Arteta will need a right-back too this summer and it’ll be interesting to see if the Spaniard could experiment with Nuno there over the coming weeks.
