Dean Jones told the Football Terrace that AC Milan ‘fear’ that clubs will bid for their star talent, Franck Kessie, and he thinks Tottenham might be that side to ‘test their resolve’.
The Eurosport journalist shared that Tottenham are starting to look at Kessie’s talents after his ‘fantastic’ season in Serie A last season.
It hasn’t been long since Nuno Espirito Santo and Fabio Paratici walked through the doors at Tottenham, but when it comes to the transfer market, they have their work cut out and they need to get moving.
Nonetheless, Jones shared that Kessie, who has one year left on his contract, is stalling on a new deal amid rumours of Tottenham’s interest.
“One interesting one I have heard is that they want a midfielder and they started to look into Franck Kessie at AC Milan,” said Jones.
“Now, this is a player who had a fantastic season last year for Milan and only has one year left on his contract. So far, Milan haven’t been able to come to an agreement on the terms of a new one.
“What Kessie was asking for initially, they felt that they couldn’t go to. They have had problems like this. Donnarumma, they couldn’t agree on. Çalhanoğlu, they couldn’t agree on.
“And Kessie, they are desperate to keep him. But there has been a fear, whilst this has been rumbling on, that a club will eventually test the resolve of the club and the player by making an offer. That club might be Tottenham.”

If Tottenham can secure the talents of someone like Kessie then it’s showing the ambition the supporters are crying out for.
Kessie has the energy, drive and positive intent needed in Tottenham’s midfield, which has lacked serious quality over the years.
Pierre Emile Hojbjerg has brought some life into the middle of the park since his arrival last summer, but Kessie’s powerhouse-like abilities would take it to the next level, alongside the flair and unpredictability of a Tanguy Ndombele.
