Some Everton fans on social media have actually been backing Rafa Benitez after footage of him talking about the Toffees on Monday Night Football in December 2019 re-emerged.

It seems as though Benitez is now the front-runner for the Everton job, and as you can imagine, Toffees fans have been digging up his past comments on their club.

The Spaniard famously called the Toffees a small club during his time as Liverpool manager, but in 2019 he reneged on those comments, claiming that he meant to call them a small team rather than a small club.

Benitez then went on to speak about how passionate he is about the city of Liverpool and the admiration he has for Evertonians, and it seems as though these comments have forced some Everton fans to change their tune on the Spaniard.

Indeed, while Everton fans were initially dead against the idea of Benitez coming to Goodison Park, it seems as though some are now on board with the idea of the 61-year-old being appointed.

Here’s what Everton supporters have been saying on social media…
