Well, Liverpool hitman Diogo Jota has certainly picked up where he left off.
The Portugual international was bang in form in early December when he picked up an injury that would keep him out for some three months.
Liverpool badly missed their summer signing from Wolverhampton Wanderers because Roberto Firmino, despite a few big moments, just wasn’t cutting it on the goalscoring front.
The 24-year-old scored the Reds’ only goal in their win away to Molineux earlier this month and now he’s back scoring for his country, too.
Jota netted twice on Saturday as Portugal drew 2-2 with Serbia in World Cup qualifying.
And here’s how some rival or neutral fans reacted to his brace on Twitter last night:
Since joining the Premier League champions, Jota has 12 goals in 14 starts for club and country and that’s a hell of a statistic.
Considering he wasn’t even widely viewed as one of Wolves’ best players, he has done remarkably well since the step up in class and Liverpool absolutely must keep him fit next season if they want their title back.
