Berahino saga explained
The Chronicle report that whilst Newcastle offered £21.2m for West Brom striker Saido Berahino, they weren’t able to get the deal done, with the deadline now passed. It’s stated that West Brom were reluctant to accept the offer because manager Tony Pulis didn’t think he would be able to bring in a replacement for Berahino before the deadline, meaning Berahino enters the final 18 months of his deal – and it seems unlikely that the Baggies will receive a £20m offer again.
Maddison completes Norwich City move
One of the Football League’s brightest prospects has completed a dramatic late move, as Coventry City playmaker James Maddison has signed for Norwich City. The 19-year-old is tipped to have a bright future ahead of him, and the Canaries have pulled off something of a coup by signing him – but he will spend the rest of the season back on loan at Coventry, as confirmed on their official website.
Van Ginkel out, Imbula in
After snapping Giannelli Imbula from Porto earlier this evening, Stoke then seemingly cancelled Marco van Ginkel’s loan deal and sent him back to Chelsea. Now, the Dutchman has returned to the Netherlands, penning a loan deal with PSV Eindhoven until the end of the season, as confirmed on their official website. Van Ginkel didn’t make much of an impact at Stoke, but now he will be hoping to help PSV’s push for the Eredivisie title.
Kane jokes after deadline
With the deadline passed, Premier League clubs can’t sign players until the summer, and Tottenham striker Harry Kane decided to have some fun as 11pm came and went. The England international took to Twitter to state that he was off – but only to bed, allowing Spurs fan to breath a huge sigh of relief as they look ahead to the game against Norwich City on Tuesday night.
