Monaco starlet Mamadou Coulibaly may decide on a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur next month as Manchester City and AC Milan look to fight off competition from the Premier League giants, according to Calciomercato.
A 17-year-old midfielder still plying his trade for Monaco’s reserves is hardly the sort of marquee summer signing that would strike fear into the hearts of Arsenal, Manchester United and West Ham.
But with Fabio Paratici embarking upon an overhaul of Tottenham’s transfer strategy – a strategy that has delivered far more misses than hits in recent windows – Coulibaly may be a something of a poster-boy for a new-look, re-vamped Spurs approach.
According to The Mail, Paratici, Tottenham’s managing director, is focusing on exciting, up-and-coming talent who, due to their contract situation, will be available on the cheap.
Coulibaly certainly ticks both boxes.
The midfielder will be a free-agent in the summer. And it is understood that Paratici, who brought promising youngsters such as Paul Pogba, Kingsley Coman and Alvaro Morata to Juventus, has declared a ‘strong interest’ in the left-footed Coulibaly.
Tottenham are not the only club to make their interest known.
Coulibaly is also a target for Pep Guardiola’s faltering Manchester City. So to an AC Milan side currently sitting pretty at the top of the Serie A table despite boasting one of the youngest squads in Europe’s major leagues.
Will Spurs win the race for Monaco’s Mamadou Coulibaly?

Coulibaly, CM add, is ‘fascinated’ by the project on offer at San Siro.
Should he swap Monaco for Milan, he would become the latest in a long line of promising Frenchman to wear red and black, joining Theo Hernandez, Mike Maignan and Pierre Kalulu.
Coulibaly, who has been compared to another Ligue 1 export in Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga, is expected to make a decision on his future in the coming weeks. He will turn 18 on April 21st.
Ahead of the summer transfer window, Tottenham are also prioritising a goalscorer capable of easing the pressure on Harry Kane and a commanding central defender to slot in alongside Cristian Romero.
