Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool were linked with a late move for Frenkie de Jong in the summer transfer window, and it seems that the Anfield club could get another chance to sign the Barcelona midfielder in January.

Liverpool linked with Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong in the summer transfer window

The Times reported on August 27 that Liverpool were considering a move for Barcelona midfielder De Jong late in the summer window.

We covered the report here on HITC Sport at the moment.

Manchester United were heavily linked with the 25-year-old in the summer transfer window as well.

Nothing materialised, and the Netherlands international midfielder is still at Barcelona.

Available in January?

A report in Sport has now claimed that Barcelona will try to move on the former Ajax star in the middle of the season.

The former La Liga and UEFA Champions League winners will continue to try to lower their wage bills.

Barcelona will have to convince De Jong to leave Camp Nou in the middle of the season and want to sell him in the January transfer window, according to Sport.

We believe that if De Jong becomes available in January, then Liverpool should sign him.

Or at least try to.

The Reds are not having the best of times at the moment, and they need a classy player in midfield who can control the game.

De Jong could be that player.
