Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool were linked with Jude Bellingham before Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid sign the midfielder in the summer transfer window.
And Luka Modric’s latest comments on Jude Bellingham will certainly make Liverpool fans feel that they have missed out on a real gem.
Liverpool linked with Jude Bellingham in 2023 summer
Back in April 2023, The Guardian reported that Liverpool had decided to pull out of the race to sign Bellingham.
The England international midfielder was at Borussia Dortmund at the time.
The report in The Guardian claimed that Bellingham had “been a leading transfer target for Liverpool for more than a year”, but the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners felt that they could not afford him.
Liverpool decided not to pursue a deal because of the transfer fee and the salary involved.
Madrid eventually signed Bellingham.

According to The Guardian in June, Los Blancos paid Dortmund an initial transfer fee of £88.5 million for the England international.
The 20-year-old midfielder is earning £220,000 per week as salary at the former La Liga and UEFA Champions League winners.
Praise for Jude Bellingham
Bellingham has made an immediate impact at Madrid.
The 20-year-old Englishman has scored five goals and given one assist in four La Liga matches for Carlo Ancelotti’s side so far this campaign.
And his Real Madrid teammate and club legend Luka Modric has been impressed.
Modric said about Bellingham in Sportske Novosti: “Bellingham? I have to say Jude has pleasantly surprised me.
“It was known he was talented, but when you see him up close, you only realize his potential.
“He really is a top talent.
“He has sense of the game, he can achieve what he imagines, he also has that ‘personality’.
“He has all the prerequisites to achieve a great career.”
