Idrissa Gana Gueye has taken to Twitter to hint at a reportedly imminent move to Everton from Paris Saint-Germain, with the player said to be about to sign for the Toffees – despite late moves from both Arsenal and Chelsea.

Gueye, 32, left Everton three years ago to join PSG. He clocked up 108 appearances during his time at Goodison Park. Now, the African Cup of Nations winner is a three-time Ligue 1 title winner – but is set to return to Everton.

The experienced midfielder is said to have said goodbye to his PSG teammates, with Everton paying a fee of £8.5million, according to Homme Du Match. Reports claim that Arsenal and Chelsea made late moves to sign Gueye.

But he has chosen to return to Everton after three years. A medical is said to have been done and now, Gueye has taken to Twitter to hint at an imminent move – simply posting one emoji. Confirmation of a move is now very close.

It is a wonderful signing for Everton. The Toffees desperately need a bit of steel and experience in the middle of the park and Gueye gives them that. Not only that, but he also knows the club inside out and a move will delight fans.

For a bargain fee of £8.5million, Everton are getting a player of Champions League quality. Yes, he is 32, but he is a player with an incredible engine and easily has another three years left in the tank. At least, at Premier League level.

A move to Everton is now imminent and could be announced at any point. It looks as if a deal is done and the Toffees will publish news on their social channels in the coming hours – or even minutes.
