Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea could reportedly miss out on Edson Alvarez to David Moyes’s West Ham United.
Chelsea and West Ham United have been linked with Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez in the summer transfer window.
The Times reported this week that Chelsea want to sign Alvarez from Dutch club Ajax.
The report claimed that the 25-year-old Mexico international has been on the radar of Chelsea since last summer.
The former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners are now considering making a move for Alvarez, who can operate as a defensive midfielder or as a centre-back.
Chelsea target Edson Alvarez says yes to West Ham United
However, it seems that the Mexican star could join Chelsea’s London and Premier League rivals West Ham instead.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Alvarez has reached an agreement on personal terms with West Ham and is ready to move to London Stadium in the summer transfer window.
The Italian journalist has reported on Twitter that it is now up to West Ham and Ajax to hammer out a deal.
Alvarez saying yes to a potential move to West Ham will come as a blow for Chelsa.
If the Blues are determined to sign the 25-year-old this summer, then they have to bid for him now.

There is no time to lose.
Ajax will surely sell Alvarez to the club that pays the most money for the defensive midfielder.
The 25-year-old has agreed to move to West Ham, but he could easily change his mind and express a desire to join Chelsea if the Blues do make a concrete move.
During his time at Ajax so far, Alvarez has won the Eredivisie title twice and the KNVB Cup once.
Alvarez made 30 starts and one substitute appearance in the Eredivisie for Ajax last season.
The defensive midfielder scored three goals and gave three assists in those games.
