With three wins and two draws in their first five Premier League games, Spurs had an unbeaten record to protect, and they did just that with a 2-1 victory.
In-form winger Heung-min Son, who has been simply superb in recent weeks, continues to impress this season, as he scored twice in the opening 25 minutes to put Tottenham 2-0 to the good.
Middlesbrough did hit back in the second half with a Ben Gibson goal, but Tottenham stood firm to hang on to their lead and ultimately head back to North London with all three points.

A number of players starred for Tottenham in Saturday’s win, but it was Son who unsurprisingly stole the headlines with his two-goal display at the Riverside Stadium.
After the game, pundit Phil Thompson told Sky Sports that Son was his man of the match thanks to a ‘terrific display’, and added that Son’s second goal was his moment of the match as the former Bayer Leverkusen man continued his outstanding form.
Thompson added that he thinks Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino will be delighted with his side’s win having dominated away from home for much of the game.

“My man of the match was Heung-min Son,” said Thompson. “A terrific display from him, scoring two goals and he dominated that first half – he was my man of the match. My moment of the match has to be Son’s second goal. An absolutely terrific strike from the left hand side in the penalty box, worked the ball on to his right foot and drilled it right into the far side with a bit of bend on it.”
“I would think Pochettino would be absolutely delighted with the three points. Away at Middlesbrough, it’s always going to be very, very hard, but I think the way his team played – particularly for an hour – he’ll be delighted,” he added.
