Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick wants to sign Zidane Iqbal from Manchester United in the January transfer window, according to 90min.

The report has claimed that Middlesbrough want to bring Iqbal to the Riverside Stadium on a loan deal.

A number of other clubs are also claimed to be interested in the 19-year-old Iraq international midfielder.

Carrick is a former Manchester United midfielder and caretaker-manager.

Should Manchester United send Zidane Iqbal on loan to Middlesbrough?

In our view, Manchester United should seriously consider sending Zidane Iqbal out on loan to Middlesbrough for the rest of the season.

Middlesbrough are a big club who are aiming to win promotion from the Championship to the Premier League at the end of the season.

Boro are sixth in the Championship table at the moment with 42 points from 28 matches.

Carrick is doing a wonderful job at the Riverside Stadium and has a very competitive team at his disposal.

Playing for a Championship club aiming to win promotion will help build Iqbal’s character.

If he is not going to get much playing time at Manchester United between now and the end of the season, then a move to Middlesbrough would not be a bad idea.
