Middlesbrough should look at Leeds defender Vurnon Anita.

Middlesbrough are currently battling to land out of favour Everton right-back Cuco Martina, but face strong competition from Stoke City, The Liverpool Echo report.

If unsuccessful, the Teesside club should target Leeds United defender Vurnon Anita.

Anita is not in Leeds’ plans under Marcelo Bielsa this season and is available for loan or transfer.

Yet even Bielsa admitted this is a tough decision, and is prepared that he may have got the omission wrong, yet is sticking to his choice nonetheless, Leeds Live report.

Middlesbrough could do a lot worse than make a move for Anita, who previously played for North East side Newcastle.

Anita can play at both right-back and midfield, even filling in at left-back last season.

The 29-year-old has even represented Holland at international level in the past, and has more than 100 Premier League appearances to his name.

Anita may not be in Leeds plans, but a total omission from their first team seems harsh.

If Middlesbrough wanted him as an alternative or back-up to £2 million rated Cuco Martina, Anita would arrive with a point to prove.
