Monk is evens favourite to take over at Middlesbrough after leaving Leeds United.
Leeds United striker Chris Wood
Middlesbrough are the new favourites to sign Leeds United striker Chris Wood with Sky Bet.
As far as the bookmaker is concerned, Boro were not even in the running this morning [Thursday] but have leapfrogged linked clubs Southampton, West Ham United, Swansea City and Stoke City to occupy odds of 6/1.
And the Teessiders’ sudden rise can perhaps be put down to the sudden departure of Leeds boss Garry Monk this lunchtime.

Monk was already linked with the vacant Middlesbrough manager’s position, and has immediately been installed as evens favourite to take charge of the the recently relegated side.
Boro are being tipped to launch an aggressive assault on promotion next season, with whoever gets the nod expected to be handed a sizeable transfer kitty by chairman Steve Gibson.

And it is plausible that Monk could return to Elland Road for Wood, whom he coaxed 30 goals out of this past campaign.
The 25-year-old has two years left on his Leeds deal, and has been valued between £15 million and £20 million by the national press.
Full list:
