Everton loanee Mo Besic set up one of Ashley Fletcher’s goals as Boro beat Bolton Wanderers in Tuesday’s Championship clash.

Middlesbrough couldn’t have picked a worse moment to endure their longest losing run for over 20 years. But Tony Pulis’s much maligned side got back to winning ways at last on Tuesday night, Ashley Fletcher scoring twice in a comfortable win at all-but relegated Bolton Wanderers.

Pulis said after the game, as reported by the Gazette, that he was ‘delighted’ with Fletcher’s contribution with the former Manchester United youngster combining brilliantly with Britt Assombalonga in the first-half in particular.

And Middlesbrough appear to have breathed fresh life into their play-off hopes, moving to within two points of the top six.

But Fletcher was not the only hero of the night. Mo Besic has endured a mixed season at the Riverside since returning to Middlesbrough for a second spell on loan from Everton but he was back to his best in midweek.

The Bosnian international was a typically tenacious presence in the centre of the park and set up Fletcher’s second with a pinpoint pass.

With Besic on form, Boro are a different proposition entirely and they will be hoping he builds on this.
