Middlesbrough striker Britt Assombalonga made his debut after signing from Nottingham Forest earlier this summer.
Middlesbrough striker Britt Assombalonga appears to have impressed on his debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers, even if Garry Monk’s side failed to win.
Boro were beaten 1-0 by Wolves, with Assombalonga failing to get on the score sheet on debut.
Middlesbrough’s new £15 million forward, who has recently joined from Nottingham Forest, had one big opportunity during the match but could not put his shot beyond Wolves stopper John Ruddy.
However, Boro fans were still encouraged by Assombalonga’s display and feel he will come into his own as the season progresses.
Assombalonga’s stats on his Boro debut show that he struggled at times, but the former Forest man’s link-up play has never been his greatest strength.
Assombalonga was disposed a total of six times, took five unsuccessful touches during the match and also lost 13 battles against the Wolves defence.
Assombalonga was not brought to Boro for his ability to hold play up though, and providing he shows his clinical finishing ability, those sort of stats will be forgiven.
| Shots | Shots on target | Dispossessed | Unsuccessful Touch | Duel Lost | Touches | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Britt Assombalonga | 1 | 1 | 6 | 5 | 13 | 42 |
The Congolese forward is likely to be in action for Monk’s men again at the weekend, when Boro take on Sheffield United.
