The Sheffield Wednesday midfielder assisted his side’s winner at Middlesbrough’s Riverside Stadium.

Barry Bannan’s performance for Sheffield Wednesday on Boxing Day even had some Middlesbrough fans purring.
Bannan was restored to Wednesday’s starting XI at the Riverside Stadium after a two-match man.
And the Scotland international, a reported Middlesbrough target before he signed a new Owls contract in August, was quick to make up for lost time.
It was his defence-splitting pass from which Adam Reach scored the game’s only goal midway through the first half, before another almost led to a second for Steven Fletcher after half-time.
And the following Boro supporters – some through gritted teeth – were complimentary about Bannan’s display…
Barry ******* Bannan just bossed #Boro. Barry Bannan.
Neil @NeilBrydon: Replying to @Boro
We made Barry Bannan look like ******* Iniesta
Sheffield Wednesday have now won back-to-back matches under caretaker manager Lee Bullen, having mutually parted with Jos Luhukay on Friday.
The Owls are expected to appoint Steve Bruce as the Dutchman’s successor in the coming days.

Their latest result could put pressure on Middlesbrough boss Tony Pulis, whose side remain in the Championship’s top six despite having won one of their last six fixtures.
