The Championship outfit have been linked with a move for the Burnley veteran.

Jonathan Walters of Burnley looks on during the pre season friendly match between Preston North End and Burnley at Deepdale on July 25, 2017 in Preston, England.

Jonathan Walters has been told he can leave Premier League side Burnley this summer after failing to make an impact under Sean Dyche at Turf Moor – and Middlesbrough fans have discussed a potential reunion with Tony Pulis.

The 34-year-old made just five appearances for the Clarets this season, as he struggled with a number of niggling injuries while the form of Burnley’s attackers kept him sidelined.

The Daily Mail quoted Walters as saying that Burnley boss Dyche has told him that he is “available” to leave this summer, if any interested parties take the Ireland international’s fancy.

The Yorkshire Post have touted that Walters could be considered by Championship giants Middlesbrough, with former Stoke City manager Tony Pulis currently at the helm.

Walters worked under the guidance of Pulis at the Britannia Stadium for three years, after Pulis opted to sign the powerful forward from Ipswich Town in 2010. The Welsh manager than left Stoke in 2013.

The former Bolton, Hull and Barnsley forward is likely to be available on the cheap as he reaches the twilight of his career, but Middlesbrough fans are unsure over signing the versatile star.
