Middlesbrough had taken Besic on loan from Everton last season, when he looked impressive.
Tony Pulis’ side were eager to bring him back when Marco Silva decided that he was surplus to requirements, but his impact during his second spell has been minimal.
Besic will have done little to impress back at Everton, and his form for Boro is causing great frustration.
