Boro keen on Pedro Silva Torrejon, Julian Chicco and Matias Roskopf

Middlesbrough are in talks to sign three young players from Argentine giants Boca Juniors.

Boro’s strong South American scout network has highlighted Pedro Silva Torrejon, Julian Chicco and Matias Roskopf

Left-back Torrejon, 19, is a product of Boca’s own academy and has already made his first-team debut for the club.

Likewise 18-year-old midfielder Chicco has already made his senior debut but striker Roskopf, 18, is yet to feature.

HITC Sport has been told by sources that talks are ongoing, but reports from Argentine newspaper Vavel claim all three are set to join on initial 18-month loan deals with a view to permanent deals.

While Torrejon has come through Boca’s famed academy, both Chicco and Roskopf were snapped up from Atletico Colon in 2015. The duo are both Argentine youth internationals and Chicco was targeted by Manchester United as 14-year-old and spent time in England with the Red Devils’ youth academy, but he failed to seal a move.

Now Chicco, along with Roskopf and Torrejon, could get his chance to impress at Boro.

Boro have a rich history of signing players from South America, and currently have Brazilian Joao Morelli in their academy; a player who was recommended to them by club legend Juninho, whose has formed an official link with Boro through his club Ituano.

The Teessiders have also raided Boca Juniors in the past when they landed Carlos Marinelli in 2000, then branded the ‘new Maradona’ – although despite showing glimpses of brilliance he never became a regular in the side.
