Middlesbrough defender Dael Fry has praised Jonathan Woodgate and Ben Gibson for his rise into relevancy, as reported by SunSport.

There are not too many things to shout about for Boro so far this season as an inconsistent first few games has left them dangling near the relegation zone.

Despite this, they do have some promising young talent in their system with one of the main names that always gets mentioned being 19-year-old Fry.

The defender, who is currently on loan at Rotherham United, played an important role in helping Boro reach the top flight having made his first-team debut at the start of last season.

This year he has been shipped off to the Millers in order to get some more experience, and it has not taken long for him to settle in.

He said, via SunSport: “I’ve been quite lucky with my managers and it’s been great for me as a defender to take onboard all the advice they have given me.

“Woodgate was a big help for me too. He’s been at some of the biggest clubs and played for England. For me as such a young lad, to have someone like that sharing their experience, was brilliant.

“Ben Gibson was the same last year. He’s still only a young player himself, but when I was with the first-team and playing alongside him he was a massive help to me.”

Fry is continuing to try and make a difference for on-loan club Rotherham United, and despite their position in the league their recent performances have been cause for hope around the squad as they attempt to work their way out of trouble.

Regardless of where they finish, Fry looks set to have a long and prosperous future in the game.
