HITC Sport understands Middlesbrough have agreed a deal for the West Ham goalkeeper.
West Ham United’s Darren Randolph
West Ham United goalkeeper Darren Randolph is poised to join Middlesbrough after they agreed a fee for his signature, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
As revealed by HITC Sport earlier this week, Middlesbrough had targeted a move for Randolph as they look to bolster their goalkeeping options after Victor Valdes and Brad Guzan left this summer.
Randolph has decided to leave West Ham in the wake of the club bringing in England international Joe Hart as the club’s new No.1
The 30-year-old’s first-team opportunities at the London Stadium look limited next season following the arrival of Hart.
Randolph did not start last season as first-choice keeper at West Ham but he got his opportunity and did well to make 22 appearances, six more than the club’s other goalkeeper Adrian.
Republic of Ireland’s Darren Randolph
The former Birmingham City keeper is ready to leave West Ham as he wants to be playing regularly to safeguard his place as No.1 goalkeeper for Republic of Ireland.
Randolph has been Martin O’Neill’s first-choice keeper and with next summer’s World Cup on the horizon Randolph does not want to find himself sitting on the sidelines next season.
Randolph’s arrival will be a major boost to Middlesbrough boss Garry Monk as he has been searching for a new keeper as he looks to finalise his squad ahead of the new Championship season starting next month.
