The Leeds United striker left Middlesbrough for Elland Road last summer.
Middlesbrough boss Tony Pulis spoke to reporters today, ahead of his side’s clash with Leeds at the Riverside tomorrow, and offered high words of praise for Patrick Bamford, labelling the striker as ‘a really good lad’, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post.
Boro currently sit in fifth spot in the Championship table, and are three places and seven points adrift of the Whites, although they do have a game in hand over Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
Tomorrow’s clash will be a vitally important one for both Middlesbrough and Leeds, and Bamford will be hoping to get one over his former side by firing his team to glory on Teesside.
The 25-year-old spent two-and-a-half years with Boro during two separate spells with the club, scoring 33 goals in the process.
He joined Leeds last summer for around £7 million, and although his season has been disrupted by a serious injury, he is now back fully fit and ready to help his side achieve promotion back to the Premier League.
Pulis spoke to reporters ahead of tomorrow’s game, and raved about the Leeds ace, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post:
“Patrick was a really, really good lad, I really enjoyed him, he was full of life. He comes from a very privileged background and got slaughtered for it. But he’s a very good lad, I like Patrick.”
Whether Bielsa will choose to start Bamford for Leeds against Middlesbrough tomorrow remains to be seen, but if he does, it would be no surprise to see him score against his former club, as is so often the case in football.
