Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven has taken to Instagram to praise teammate Dejan Kulusevski after his performance against Newcastle United.
Tottenham ended a five-game run without a victory, beating Newcastle United 4-1 with a superb performance.
Destiny Udogie and Richarlison had Tottenham 2-0 up at the break before the Brazilian added number three.
Son Heung-min scored from the penalty spot to make it 4-0 with Joelinton’s strike little more than a consolation.
This was a swashbuckling performance from Tottenham, with a number of players turning in superb displays – including Dejan Kulusevski.
Micky van de Ven hails Dejan Kulusevski after Tottenham Hotspur win
Kulusevski was deployed as a number 10, moving from his usual position on the right flank.
The Swede was a constant menace, popping up out wide at times to cause no end of problems for the Newcastle back line.
Kulusevski racked up five key passes and two shots on target, as well as completing one dribble.
Wearing a protective mask after an incident with West Ham United’s Lucas Paqueta on Thursday night, Kulusevski almost had an assist to his name but Brennan Johnson rattled the woodwork.
This may become Kulusevski’s position moving forward and he has taken to Instagram to simply post a photo of himself wearing his mask following the win over Newcastle.
Johnson responded by calling Kulusevski ‘batman’ whilst Udogie stated ‘che giocatore’ – ‘what a player’ in Italian.
There was also a message from Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven, who remains out of action through injury.
Van de Ven stated ‘top player’, a verdict many Tottenham fans will agree with after another masterclass from the £25million winger.
The 23-year-old has had his ups and downs over the last year or so but he was superb against Manchester City last weekend and terrorised Newcastle too.
Whether it’s on the right flank or more centrally, Kulusevski is causing problems and stepping up as a creative force with James Maddison out of action; long may it continue.
