Ronald Koeman enraged plenty of Everton fans with some controversial comments.
Micky Quinn has told The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show that was broadcast on talkSPORT on November 10th that if he was an Everton fan, he would have been left distraught to hear Ronald Koeman’s recent comments about Romelu Lukaku’s future.
Koeman told Belgian newspaper HLN (via BBC Sport) that the Belgian striker should look to leave Everton at some stage in the future and should join Barcelona.

And Quinn has slammed the Toffees boss’ comments, and suggested that Everton should be showing plenty of ambition given their current circumstances.
“If I was an Everton fan reading that, I’d be distraught,” he told The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT.

“They’ve sold all of their best players down the years. Now they’ve got an owner who’s going to invest, I see he’s going to give £25m in January to spend on players and that’s what surprises me about this.
“It’s supposed to be exciting for an Everton fan at the moment but he goes and says, ‘go and play for Barcelona and better yourself’,” he would later add.

Koeman’s comments undoubtedly send a poor message out about the direction the club could be going in. Not only will their other star players begin to question whether they can achieve their ambitions with the Merseyside outfit, but it may also hurt their hopes of landing key targets in the transfer market.
Few targets will look at a move to Goodison Park favourably if they have any doubts about the likelihood of the key players staying for a substantial period of time.
However, Koeman may suggest that his comments were designed to motivate the team to try and aspire to reach a level that persuades their very best players to stick around.
