Aston Villa have made a poor start to the season, but Micky Quinn has not ruled out them making a charge for promotion yet.

Micky Quinn has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 4th October, that Aston Villa could still be promoted this season.
Villa are currently stuck in 19th place in the Championship table, after winning just one of their first 11 matches.
The Claret and Blues are 10 points back from the play off places, but Quinn believes that they should look at Sunderland for inspiration.
Sunderland were stuck in the relegation zone at the end of August during the 2006/07 campaign, but they went on a remarkable run in the second half of the season to earn promotion.
And Quinn does not believe it is beyond the capabilities of Villa to go on a similar run.
“We’re talking about Villa. Remember when Roy Keane was in charge of Sunderland? They were bottom after 14/15 games, and ended up skating up the Championship. So, they’re not out of it at this moment in time,” Quinn said.

Villa may not be out of the promotion race entirely, but they will need to get their next managerial appointment right if they are to break into the top six.
With Roberto Di Matteo being dismissed yesterday, Villa are now on the hunt for a new manager to take charge.
As things stand Steve Bruce is the bookies’ favourite to land the Villa job, with David Wagner and Dean Smith also amongst the leading contenders.
