Newcastle United have been linked with Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres in the January transfer window.

According to The Mirror, former Liverpool and Chelsea striker Torres wants to return to the Premier League.
It has been reported that the Atletico striker’s desire has put Newcastle United and Southampton on alert.

The 33-year-old Spain international reportedly wants to leave the Madrid club on loan in the January transfer window.
Torres worked with Benitez at Liverpool (and later at Chelsea) and was hugely successful during his time at Anfield.
Former Newcastle forward Quinn has suggested that the ex-Chelsea striker would be a good signing for the Magpies on a short-term loan deal.
Quinn said on the Jim White show on talkSPORT on Monday afternoon (12:35pm, November 13, 2017): “Newcastle are crying out for a centre-forward, absolutely crying out for a centre-forward at this moment, someone to score goals of his ilk, and if it is just a short-term loan period, I think it makes a lot of sense, I really do.”

Newcastle are 11th in the Premier League table at the moment with 14 points from 11 matches.
Benitez’s side will return to action on Saturday evening when they take on Manchester United away from home at Old Trafford in the league.
