Micky Quinn has suggested on social networking site Twitter that Newcastle United should sign a centre-forward in the final days of the January transfer window.

The former Newcastle centre-forward made the suggestion following the Magpies’ 3-0 defeat to Premier League rivals Chelsea away from home at Stamford Bridge in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday evening.

Quinn has also stated that Rafael Benitez’s side should move on from their FA Cup exit and focus on winning against Burnley at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Wednesday evening.

Newcastle do need to sign a striker in the January transfer window in order to enhance their chances of escaping the drop to the Championship at the end of the season.

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle are interested in signing Denmark international striker Nicolai Jorgensen from Dutch club Feyenoord.

Jorgensen is a good striker, and his signing could give the Magpies the boost they need to pull away from relegation danger.
