Liverpool have been linked with Southampton’s Virgil Van Dijk and Manchester City’s Joe Hart ahead of the January transfer window.

Mick Quinn has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 6th December, that he believes Liverpool could win the Premier League if they signed Joe Hart and Virgil Van Dijk.

Liverpool are currently right in the thick of the title fight, but there are serious question marks still existing over the team defensively.

Loris Karius, who was brought in to be Liverpool’s number one last summer, has struggled through his time at Anfield so far and back-up goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has never entirely convinced.

As a result Quinn believes that Liverpool need to sign a new goalkeeper, and he feels that Manchester City’s Hart should be at the top of their wishlist.

Hart has been sent out on loan by City this season, and it seems unlikely that the England international will be kept by Pep Guardiola.

Van Dijk, meanwhile, has been a revelation at Southampton this term, but Liverpool have already proven that they can sign the Saints’ best players.

Liverpool have snapped up Dejan Lovren, Sadio Mane and Adam Lallana from Southampton in recent times, and Quinn wants the Reds to go back to St. Mary’s to bring in Van Dijk.

“Hart would be a brilliant signing. Him and Van Dijk could be the missing links for Liverpool to win the title,” the TalkSPORT pundit said.

As things stand, Liverpool are just four points behind league leaders Chelsea – but their 4-3 defeat to Bournemouth at the weekend has raised doubts over whether Jurgen Klopp’s side have a strong enough defence to keep pace with the front runners for the title over the course of the whole campaign.
