Visitors Newcastle had 50% of the possession, took six shots of which none was on target, and earned two corners, according to BBC Sport.
The draw with Southampton means that Rafael Benitez’s side are second from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment with just three points from 10 matches, two points behind 17th-placed Cardiff City.
