Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers fought off a lot of competition to add George Edmundson to Steven Gerrard’s squad.

Edmundson is Steven Gerrard’s side’s most expensive addition so far this summer, yet many Rangers fans at Ibrox don’t know too much about him.
Edmundson is making a big step up by moving to Rangers, as he was playing at League Two level last term.
Mellon had to manage his Tranmere Rovers side against Edmundson twice, when they took on Oldham Athletic.
And Mellon insists that all the reports that he has heard about the Rangers new boy have been very positive.
“I’ve seen a lot of him and he’s a really talented lad, very composed and comfortable with the ball,” Mellon said.

“From what I am told from his old coaches, he is a lad that just wants to learn and learn and get better all of the time. There were a lot of teams after him and it won’t faze him going up to Scotland.”
Whether Edmundson will break straight into Rangers’ first-team remains to be seen, but Gerrard was very keen to bring the youngster to Scotland.
Rangers beat off competition from a range of clubs to sign Edmundson, and he will go into competition with the likes of Nikola Katic and Connor Goldson for a first-team place.
